We
need a stable, sustainable economy to provide for a secure future.
Our neighborhoods, educational systems and economy are interdependent.
We need a legislative leader with proven commitment and local knowledge.
I have been an Alaskan businesswoman for 30 years and know from early
lessons that customer loyalty is earned through respect and quality
service. Legislative leaders must work to strengthen that loyalty
in our service-based Anchorage economy.
We
live in a part of town, the University/Medical district, which has
a unique potential for economic growth. Health and Education now
account for about 15,000 jobs in this part of town and in my role
as State Representative it is my first priority to transform this
potential into economic growth.
I
am doing this by fighting for full funding for the University of
Alaska and also have obtained additional funds for the UAA nursing
program. Through my position on the State House Health and Social
Services Committee, I have worked to craft state policy that encourages
the welfare of our health businesses and facilities. I have also
been working hard to ensure that we, as individuals, have affordable
health insurance and access to health care.
